Obedience The club's trainers provide excellent training from pups right through  to competition.
For some twenty five years Nick Buxton has been training animals and in particular dogs. he got hooked on obedience training ten years ago and has been competing for the last eight years.

In Nick's own words: "I work open class C only with one of my dogs and have a younger dog coming on through the lower classes.

I get a big kick out of watching dogs work out what it is I want them to do through reward based training and watching behaviours get stronger and more persistent. There is nothing better to my mind than watching a happy motivated dog that just loves to work for pleasure. This is also a big confidence boost to the handler and together they will go far.

I have been with Letchworth for several years now and am currently serving as trainer for The Thursday night sessions and on the committee as Chairman of the club.

We are a strong positive and friendly club with many loyal members and a continued steady stream of new starters."

Joan Dixon has kept pet dogs for most of her life and now has four Border collies.  Three years ago she started to train one of them for competitive agility and obedience and then 18 months later she bought a puppy who is about to begin competing.

.

Joan is currently trainer for the Monday night class.  She firmly believes that dog owners can have great fun with their dogs by training them whether it is to produce a well-mannered pleasant pet or a competitor.  Motivational training in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere helps people to understand their pets and to bond with and enjoy them

Agility catering for all levels of training to suit your needs.

Dave Timms  recalls "One August Bank Holiday, probably over 13 years ago, I was dragged off to the Ashwell Show by my better half who thought it might be more fun than banger racing.  I sat enthralled by the dog agility ring and thought one day I'd like to do that (I didn't have a dog at that time). Well, a few years later I started to train my rescue lurcher, Rosie with Letchworth Dog Club's agility section at what was the Fairfield hospital.  Rosie also went to obedience training with the club at Graveley.

That was just the beginning and I now have five dogs of various breeds.  I am now a keen competitor (no more banger racing!) and compete at as many Open Kennel Club shows as possible.

I started as an agility trainer for the Club about 4 years ago, and along with most of the other trainers I am now an Agility Club Approved Instructor.

We now train indoors at the Equestrian Centre in Old Warden on a Tuesday with all the trainers taking turns in instructing the classes from beginners up to competing dogs.

I found myself organising the agility show at Ashwell in 2006, I don't think I would have believed that 13 years ago!"
